4月19日 Metaphysical inerrancy of the BibleThere is someone on the web trying to compare the importance of biblical inerrancy to Christianity with that of absolute vacuum to physics as well as that of perfect circle to mathematics as reference concepts that serve theoretical purposes. However, I think the analogy of physics and mathematics does not work quite well with the case of inerrancy of the Bible. In physics or maths, you do not need to assert the idealizations, i.e. absolute vacuum or perfect circle, do exist or had once existed in the real world (except you believe in some kind of realism). However, in the case of Bible, the idea of inerrancy is to assert that a "perfect" manuscript had even existed in the real world. It is not just an idealization for theorizing. It is about a concrete fact.
To be parallel with the analogy of physics and mathematics, I think the idea of inerrancy has to be revisied as follows: in God's mind there exists an idealized script of the Bible, but every copy in the real world (including the original one) contains, more or less, certain errors. So this would be a theory of "metaphysical inerrancy of the Bible". 4月18日 《親近有罪》我覺得這部片拍得像某些港台劇集，探討親子關係那一類。片中集中表現父親對家庭的態度如何抽離，母親如何忙於月旦親友鄰居的是非，兩者皆無視子女的需要和變化。反而，這部片的「主角」──亂倫的兄妹──卻表達得很表面，完全沒有嘗試去發掘年青人的心理與情慾。這部電影的setting有點像我早前才看的《戲夢巴黎》，但後者在表現年青人的頹廢、神秘、情慾與狂妄自傲就勝出太多了。 我覺得這部片值得看的是大約最後五分鐘，母親目睹子女的床上做愛，他們三人歇斯底里的反應。那母親最初聲音也發不出，直走到他們床邊才突然發出淒厲的喊聲，赤條條的兄妹倆頓時大吃一驚，立刻作滾地葫蘆滾到床的另一邊，妹妹不斷啜泣，哥哥倒退回孩提時代，擁抱母親不斷說「Mummy, I am sorry」。那母親整個崩潰，連站起身走路的力氣也沒有，只是俯身爬出房間。那場面確實震撼，也叫我想到一項行為一旦被定性為罪或社會禁忌，在人的潛意識裡會有何等分量。 |
